Deze zouden opgebroken moeten worden in afzonderlijke \u2018audit only\u2019, dan wel adviserende en dienstverlenende organisaties. \u00a0Het doel zou dan zijn om de concurrentie op de jaarrekeningcontrolemarkt te vergroten en om belangenconflicten te voorkomen, die blijkbaar steeds weer voortvloeien uit de dominante positie van de vier bedrijven in het Verenigd Koninkrijk.<\/p>\n<p>Onderzoek van <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manifest.co.uk\/\">Manifest<\/a> wees recent uit, dat de grote vier de boeken controleren van <em>alle<\/em> FTSE-350 bedrijven &#8211; op slechts negen van hen na. Er is dus geen sprake van echte concurrentie op de markt, meent de FRC. Critici van de dominante positie van de grote vier wijzen bovendien op de re\u00eble mogelijkheid dan wel waarschijnlijkheid van belangenconflicten, die voortvloeien uit de snelle groei van de consultingtakken, vooral op het terrein van fiscale planning.<\/p>\n<p>Verder blijven er vraagtekens gezet worden bij de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2018\/jan\/30\/carillion-collapse-prompts-fresh-scrutiny-of-uk-accounting-giants\">kwaliteit van de Big-Four<\/a> audits: de interventie van Haddrill volgt op een nieuwe reeks niet adequaat door de accountants opgemerkte boekhoudschandalen, zoals die van Carillion in Groot-Brittanni\u00eb, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/ca257050-e1ac-11e7-a8a4-0a1e63a52f9c\">Steinhoff<\/a> in Zuid-Afrika en <a href=\"https:\/\/fd.nl\/ondernemen\/1098815\/pwc-negeerde-signalen-van-fraude-bij-petrobras\">Petrobras<\/a> in Brazili\u00eb.
